The lab works with athletes from high school to the professional level across soccer, football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis and combat sports, and with the teams and clubs that bring a whole roster for a testing day.
The assessment
Sixty minutes with a coach: a counter-movement jump and a drop jump on the force plates for jump height, peak power, rate of force development, left-right asymmetry and reactive strength; ten- and thirty-metre sprints on the timing gates; and a movement screen. Every number is explained on the day and saved to your account in the Onyx Performance OS app. The assessment is $149 and is booked and paid online.
The program
From the assessment the coach writes a program in four- to six-week blocks, each with a stated objective and a retest at the end. Athletes train it in coached sessions at 11 AM or 6 PM on weekdays under the Protocol membership, or in private sessions with their own coach. The app carries the program, logs every set with a recommended load, takes a morning readiness check-in and adjusts the day when sleep or soreness say so.
Asymmetry above ten to fifteen percent, a drop in reactive strength or a sprint split going the wrong way show up in the retest before they show up as an injury, and the next block is written to address them.
Teams, clubs and schools
A team testing day puts every athlete on the force plates and the sprint gates in ninety minutes, with a scorecard for each athlete and a report for the coach. Clubs and schools can run the season in their own space in the system, with programming and reports to parents. The inquiry form on the teams page starts it.
